What does a behaviour consultation involve?
A behaviour consultation takes around 2 hours and covers your dog's past history, it's present management and routine, the presenting problem and why this has arisen. An holistic approach is taken, treating the underlying cause of the problem rather than just the apparent symptoms. A practical programme is put together, tailored to your specific circumstances, which you are taught how to put in place. Where appropriate, Reiki treatment can be added to the consultation, as can the use of Bach Flower Remedies. Follow up advice and support by telephone and/or e.mail is always available, as is another visit if neccessary. A report can be sent to your vet if required.
Management of the problem while re-training takes place is a major part of any consultation. In other words a way is found to not permit your dog to 'rehearse' the unwanted behaviour. The way is then clear to re-train your dog into acceptable behaviour under controllable conditions. Some problems can be sorted out relatively quickly but it must be realised that others may take many months of hard work and commitment on your part.
